La Baia di Ieranto e una baia sacra — un luogo che gli antichi Greci credevano essere la dimora delle Sirene dell'Odissea. Oggi e una riserva naturale gestita dal FAI, e raggiungerla richiede un'escursione moderata dal borgo di pescatori di Nerano. Il sentiero si snoda tra uliveti e cave di calcare abbandonate, scendendo gradualmente verso una baia che guarda Capri frontalmente senza nulla in mezzo. L'acqua e cosi limpida da sembrare generata al computer: turchese sulla sabbia bianca, blu profondo dove il fondale sprofonda. Nuotare qui con i Faraglioni di Capri che si ergono dall'altra parte del canale e un'esperienza al vertice della Costiera Amalfitana. La baia e selvaggia — niente stabilimenti, niente lettini, niente musica. Solo rocce, acqua cristallina e il suono delle onde. I ruderi della vecchia cava creano una bellezza quasi post-apocalittica lungo la discesa finale.

Best May-October for swimming. Spring wildflowers are stunning. July-August is busy even here — go early morning. The bay has no shade, so bring protection. Not advisable in winter as paths can be muddy.
Start: from Nerano village, reachable by bus from Sorrento (30 min). Limited parking in Nerano. Return the same way. No boat service to the bay.
Eat at Maria Grazia or Lo Scoglio in Nerano before or after — these are two of the finest seafood restaurants on the coast, famous for zucchini pasta invented here.
