La Baia is Vietri sul Mare's main beach — 400 meters of wide, sandy shore that feels more like a proper seaside town than the narrow coves of the western coast. The beach is broad enough that even in August you can find breathing room, and the sand is soft and pale by Amalfi Coast standards. Full facilities run along the promenade: beach clubs, restaurants, ice cream shops, and a playground for children. The water is calm and shallow near shore. Vietri sits at the eastern gateway to the Amalfi Coast, just 3 kilometers from Salerno, which means easy access by train, bus, or car. It lacks the glamour of Positano but delivers a comfortable, authentic Italian beach day at fair prices.
SITA bus from Salerno (15 min). Train to Vietri-Salerno (5 min walk). Ample parking. Ferry from Salerno (summer).
Vietri is famous for its handmade ceramics — walk through the town after the beach and visit the ceramic workshops along Via Madonna degli Angeli. Prices are 30-50% less than in Positano or Amalfi for the same quality.
