Duoglio is Amalfi's secret for those willing to work for it. Over 400 steps descend from the road west of town to a pebble beach with dramatically clearer water than Marina Grande. A well-run beach club (Lido delle Sirene) serves excellent seafood and cold Peroni, and a free section sits to the right. The setting is wilder than the main beach โ limestone cliffs on both sides, no town noise, just waves. A seasonal boat service from Amalfi's harbor saves you the brutal climb back up. The beach faces south-southwest and holds sun all day, making it one of the warmest spots for early and late season swimming.
Staircase from SS163 west of Amalfi center. Seasonal boat shuttle from Amalfi harbor.
Take the boat back up โ the stairs are punishing in the afternoon heat. Ask at Amalfi's harbor for the Duoglio shuttle (about 5 EUR). The snorkeling along the cliff base on the left side is some of the best near Amalfi.
