The main beach of Positano and the social epicenter of the entire Amalfi Coast. Three hundred meters of dark volcanic sand framed by the iconic cascade of pastel houses climbing the hillside above. The eastern half is lined with beach clubs offering full service — sunbeds, cocktails, fresh seafood — while the free western section stays lively with locals and backpackers. Water entry is gentle and the bay is sheltered, making it swimmable even when other beaches get rough. Arrive before 9 AM in summer or you will not find a free spot. After dark, the beachfront bars keep the energy going until late.
SITA bus stop Positano Sponda (10 min walk downhill), ferry dock at beach. Parking at Via del Saracino (expensive, limited).
The free section is on the far left as you face the sea. Stake your spot by 8:30 AM in July-August. For the classic photo of the village above the beach, walk to the pier on the right side.
